“Ullas 2024: A Majestic Showcase of Cultural Heritage and Environmental Advocacy atMRIS Charmwood”

Manav Rachna International School (MRIS), Charmwood, distinguished for its dedication to comprehensive education and sustainable development, successfully organized Ullas 2024, an inter school cultural gala. The event was a vibrant celebration of India’s diverse cultural legacy, interwoven with the themes of ‘Nurture Nature’ and ‘Climate Action,’ underlining the pivotal role of the arts in fostering environmental awareness.

The day commenced with a warm reception and honor of esteemed guests, followed by the
ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Principal Ms. Divjot Kaur. In her address, Ms. Kaur articulated
her aspirations for the eighth edition of Ullas, underscoring the importance of blending cultural
consciousness with environmental stewardship. The event garnered an impressive turnout of
912 students from various schools, each contributing their unique talents to this grand
celebration.

Ms. Nisha Bhalla, Executive Director of MRIS, expressed her happiness about the event and
the school’s objectives: “Ullas 2024 has been an exhilarating showcase of the outstanding talent
and ingenuity of our students. This event epitomizes our philosophy by offering a space where
young minds can unleash their creativity while addressing critical issues like climate change.
Ullas is more than a display of skills—It exemplifies the values that inspire and guide our future
leaders.”

The event’s grandeur was elevated by the presence of the esteemed Chief Guest, Smt.
Saswati Sen, a revered Kathak maestro and recipient of the illustrious Sangeet Natak
Akademi Award. In her address, Smt. Sen emphasized the transformative influence of art in
nurturing young minds and deepening their connection to cultural roots. Her distinguished
presence lent the event a prestigious aura as she shared wisdom from her remarkable career,
including training bollywood legends and contributing to cinematic masterpieces such as
Devdas and Bajirao Mastani.

The day’s cultural festivities unfolded with a dazzling inaugural dance by the students of MRIS-
Charmwood, setting a vibrant tone for the occasion. The program featured a diverse array of
performances, including enthralling folk and western dances, thought-provoking skits, and
impactful street plays. Additionally, students demonstrated their artistic acumen in competitions
like poster-making and toy crafting, all centered around the critical theme of sustainability.

Ms. Divjot Kaur, Principal of MRIS Charmwood, reflected on the triumph of Ullas 2024:
